One step can change the course of your life !

Kaizen: Every great thing starts simple

KAIZEN is a Japanese concept or philosophy method devised by the Japanese people during the reform period after World War II to help to restore Japan and to lead the industrial and financial institutions at that time, , and then it spread in the fields of business all over the world and to all aspects of life.

According to Kaizen InstituteKaizen is the practice of continuous improvement. Kaizen was originally introduced to the West by Masaaki Imai in his book Kaizen: The Key to Japan’s Competitive Success in 1986. Today Kaizen is recognized worldwide as an important pillar of an organization’s long-term competitive strategy. Kaizen is continuous improvement that is based on certain guiding principles:
·         Good processes bring good results
·         Go see for yourself to grasp the current situation
·         Speak with data, manage by facts
·         Take action to contain and correct root causes of problems
·         Work as a team
·         Kaizen is everybody’s business

·         And much more!

The idea is based on continuous improvement little by little starting from the most basic steps.

Kaizen word is a compound word of two parts, "Kai" means "change" and "Zen" means "the best" or "better" or "good." And the meaning is to change for the better: "continuous Improvement" 

The idea can be summarized in one phrase: "journey of a thousand miles begins with one step unit, and so when you add a slight improvement to your life every day, the circumstances will improve much in the end.

  Now the question here is how to apply this concept on yourself, your life, and your children?

Real Examples 

• A lady wants to lose weight by exercising for 5 minutes in front of TV on a daily basis. This may seem a little but weird, but the kaizen trick here is stability, continuity and permanence. After a month and a half she was able to reach out to ten minutes a day, and then after a year she was exercising an hour a day without fatigue or boredom and she lost approximately 12 kg!

• You want to improve your relationship with your spouse. Every day do something for him/her that improves your relationship, a nice gesture, a fine dish, etc. Each day make one progressive step, and let me assure you that after quite some time you will find a remarkable difference. Same applies in all kinds of relationships.

• Want to organize your messy room or kitchen. Everyday do one shelf or drawer one and only one! You will find that the room or the kitchen was completed in a matter of days.

• You want your son or daughter to get used to do a specific good thing. Try to draw their attention to it for little time daily. The idea here again is continuity, and after quite some time you will find they are doing what you planted in them!

• Want to develop the habit of reading and develop it in your children? Let's kaizen this. Read half a page everyday before going to sleep. Only half a page, and some months later you and your children will become very professional readers.

• Want your son to sleep early and he does not sleep before 12 o'clock. Let him go to bed only a quarter to 12 and continue on that method for a month, and then in the following month let it be 11:30 and 11:15 and so on until sleeps early.

The amazing fact about KAIZEN:

Your may notice little progress in the first few steps, but rest assured this is only in the beginning. Your later steps will start to widen until they become giant leaps overtime. Once you planted the seed and kept watering it everyday, the curve will start to rocket up to the sky. The process is accelerated in every step and the effect will be doubled, tripled, etc.

So continue to hold to the simple change until it becomes rooted in you and your children and you will see with your eyes miraculous results like all those who kaizened their life before you.
